NATURE OF A NEWS

                                     NEWS

Is any thing which is fresh in nature.
Therefore any news which serve as an information to the public, individual or a group must have a certain degree of characteristics.


News appear in two forms which include, news as a commodity or news as a state of mind.

News as a commodity means news is gathered or assembled,processed and disseminated to the public through various ways. therefore, the news item is sold out to the public as a product or commodity.

news as a state of mind shows how news appeals to the public. it shows or the public or audience decides which news item they should go for.
There are also some some set of criteria employed by journalist to measure or judge a news item. These criteria are known as news values and they include, timeliness, impact or consequence,proximity ,conflict, prominence among others.


News in the essence must be considered as news when the individual consider the following.
1.where the news is produced
This may be provided through many different media:Government-produced news sheets, called tipao, circulated among court.
2. who produced the news/ source
Every news has source the it is coming from.
